EPFO's New Portal Ends Office Visits for 8 PF Services
EPFO’s new portal brings eight essential provident fund services onto a single online dashboard, allowing members to manage claims, withdrawals, nominations and account updates without visiting an EPFO office or routing requests through their employer. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has consolidated services that were previously spread across separate interfaces, aiming to simplify how millions of subscribers manage their retirement savings.
Why the revamp matters?
Many EPF-related tasks traditionally required either an in-person office visit or employer intervention, creating delays for routine account activities. The unified dashboard is designed to remove that dependency, letting members complete most services directly through a computer or mobile device once their Universal Account Number is activated, since UAN activation serves as the entry point for the majority of the platform’s digital services.

Eight services now available online
EPFO has listed eight core services members can now complete digitally through the portal:
- UAN activation using Aadhaar-based OTP authentication
- Retrieval of UAN details using personal information, without needing employer involvement
- Online PF withdrawals, covering final settlement, pension withdrawal benefits and partial withdrawals
- Passbook viewing and download for tracking contributions and balances
- Filing and updating e-nominations
- Updating KYC details, including Aadhaar, PAN and bank account information
- Online transfer of PF accounts when changing employers
- Death claim filing by nominees or family members through dedicated claim facilities

Before accessing most services, members must activate their UAN by entering their UAN, Aadhaar number, name, date of birth and Aadhaar-linked mobile number, with authentication completed through an OTP sent to that registered number. Both UAN activation and new UAN generation can also be completed through the UMANG app. Members who don’t know their UAN can use the portal’s “Know Your UAN” facility, and eligible users can self-generate a UAN without needing an employer request.
How the digital claims process works?
Members can now apply online for Form 19 (PF final settlement), Form 10-C (pension withdrawal benefits) and Form 31 (partial PF withdrawals or advances). Final settlement claims require the member’s joining and exit dates to be recorded in EPFO’s database, and can only be filed after the prescribed waiting period following the end of employment. For Form 31 claims, no supporting documents are required, as the online application itself functions as a self-declaration, with authentication carried out through Aadhaar-linked OTP verification.
Passbook access, nominations and KYC updates
The portal allows members to view and download their EPF passbooks online, alongside filing or updating e-nominations and updating Aadhaar, PAN and bank account details. EPFO has noted that nomination filing is mandatory under the EPF Scheme, 2026, since it determines how nominees and family members can access provident fund, pension and insurance benefits if a member dies. EPFO also recently completed a database consolidation and software upgrade, and has cautioned that claims filed soon after the upgrade may undergo additional verification checks.
Switching jobs and filing death claims
Employees changing jobs can now submit online transfer requests to move their PF balance between employers without an office visit. Separately, dedicated facilities have been introduced for death claim filing by nominees or family members, covering both provident fund and pension-related claims, though these remain subject to nomination and KYC requirements being completed in advance.
What members need before they begin?
To use most of the portal’s services, EPFO states that members need an activated UAN, Aadhaar linked to their EPFO record, an Aadhaar-linked mobile number for OTP authentication, bank account details with IFSC code seeded in the system, and PAN details for certain final settlement claims.
The bigger picture
The consolidated portal represents a further step in EPFO’s broader digital transformation push, bringing core provident fund services into one online interface with the stated goal of cutting administrative delays and improving access for EPF subscribers across India.
